C1894-95 semi-detached pair of houses designed by C E Bateman of Bateman and
Bateman. Symmetrical half timbered Arts and Crafts elevation with well executed
details. Brick ground floor with roughcast plinth, close studded first floor.
Six bay range, the end bays as slightly lower gabled cross wings; the central
2 bays of ground floor set back under jetty. Steep pitch gable end tiled roofs,
large central red brick chimney stack on ridge and external stacks to sides,
the shafts linked by cross roofs to the roofs of the cross wings. Fenestration
consists of small parted wood casements, small 2 light above 2 centred arched roll
moulded stone doorways in bays abutting cross wings. The recessed centre of
ground floor has 2 small canted wood bays with glazing bars, deep entablatures
up to soffit of jetty. Illustrated in the Builder, March 1900.
