Memorial arch, entrance to Brocklesby Park. Dated 1864. Limestone ashlar.
Classical style. Rectangular on plan, approximately 12 metres high.
Similar faces to east and west. Tuscan pilasters supporting central arch
with archivolt, enriched scrolled keystone, and carved spandrels. Flanked
by pedestals with moulded plinth and cornice, carrying twin Roman Doric
pilasters with banded rustication between, and freestanding twin columns
with Composite capitals supporting entablature with inscribed frieze,
modillion cornice and blocking course. Inscription to east: TO CHARLES
ANDERSON WORSLEY 2ND EARL OF YARBOROUGH; to west: BY HIS TENANTS AND
FRIENDS. Pair of cast-iron half-column gate piers in arch, inscribed T
Simpson & Co Lincoln AD 1866. A prominent feature in the landscape.
