Suburban villa. Mid C19. Probably by Henry Rice. Stucco on
masonry with plinth and string to entrance and garden fronts,
otherwise rubble; dry slate roof with projecting eaves over
frieze with console brackets. Double-depth plan plus service
wings. 2 storeys; symmetrical 4-window south garden front.
Segmental arches over 8-pane hornless sashes to 1st floor and
2x3-light canted bays with 4-pane hornless sashes within
moulded architraves and with moulded parapet cornices to
ground floor. 3-window-range east entrance front has recessed
bay with blind window on the left; other 1st-floor windows
similar to those on garden front; central doorway with distyle
Doric porch and 4-panel door between glazed sidelights over
panels with guttae to cornices and 4-pane hornless sash on
right with hood on consoles. INTERIOR of good quality where
inspected; original features include: open-well open-string
stair with mahogany handrail scrolled over newel; plaster hall
ceiling with modillion cornice and moulded ribs and
straight-flight back stair with stick balusters.
