Medieval crossbase and War Memorial

Base of cross surmounted by War Memorial. Medieval with 1919 memorial. Dressed
freestone base, limestone memorial. Cross-base: square on plan with 4 diminishing
steps. War memorial: a tall cross with plinth, tapering shaft and wheel-head
cross carved with Celtic style interlace carving. Set in the south face of the
shaft and plinth are 3 bronze plaques, the middle one recording the restoration
of the cross in 1919 as a war memorial. Plaque above has names of the fallen
and plaque below the names of the fallen of the 1939-45 War.
Prominently sited in the middle of the village at the head of the main street and
next to the village maypole.
