Entrance pylon surviving from the original Lodge. 1806-9 by
William Wilkins for East India College. Red brick base and
backing. Ware white brick facing in frame of Portland Stone. A
tall corner pylon facing the drive and the college, with a deep
stone base course and wide stones set vertically at the corners.
Overhanging moulded stone capping cornice. Illustrates the
treatment of the original pilastered gatelodge (c. f. Blunt
(1966) illus. on p. 25).
