17/11 War Memorial

G.V. II

War memorial. c.1918. Limestone ashlar, purbeck marble. 2
rectangular steps with squat corner piers, lead up to rectangular
base with marble inscription plaque to the south. Rectangular
pier above with recessed corner pilasters with moulded bases and
capitals. Each side with marble inscription plaque with wreath
and drpaeries above. Inscribed frieze above around all 4 sides,
topped with smaller, recessed rectangular piers with north and
south sides with down turned swords, and east and west sides with
down turned torches. Topped with urn finial. Iron chain
supported on small ashlar piers extend round memorial.
