Royal Arms of George III from 1801-16. Oils on canvas. The quarters on the shield are 1 and 4, England, 2 Scotland, 3 Ireland. Inescutcheon (centre) are the three parts of Hanover; Brunswick, Luneberg and Westphalia. This appears to be surmounted by the Electors Bonnet. The painting is unusual in having the unicorn charging away from the shield- not the behaviour of a sensible supporter. (Photo Jul 2007).
