Ford House

II

House, now part of school. 1835. Attributed to George Webster.
Limestone ashlar with hipped slate roof. The main block is a
symmetrical composition of 2 storeys and 3 bays with a plinth,
a 1st-floor sill band, an eaves band, and overhanging
bracketed eaves. The windows are sashed with plain reveals.
The entrance front, on the north side, has a central
single-storey porch with a cornice and blocking course, and
with windows in its side walls. A lower 2-storey wing adjoins
to the east. The windows on the south side have been enlarged
in the C20.
INTERIOR: entrance hall has tiled floor and a dogleg stair
with open string, turned balusters, and wreathed handrail.
