Board school teacher's/caretaker's house. 1884. Probably by
Richard Adams. Red brick, moulded and cut brick details, slate
roof (diminishing courses).
2 storeys with attic, 2 x 1 bays. Gable end to road has door
with overlight right, 4-pane sash left to ground and 1st
floor, and to gable centre; slightly shouldered brick arches,
stone sills. Right return, to school yard: entrance right,
small sash window centre and a 4-pane sash left, ground and
1st floors. The plain house is relieved by bands of patterned
brickwork at 1st-floor and eaves levels, forming a geometric
version of quatrefoil and cusped recesses; moulded eaves
cornice, brick kneelers, stone gable copings, strapwork
pattern in gable apex, 2 moulded brick stacks to rear of
ridge.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
A good example of the type of house provided with all Board
Schools. Included for group value.
