Pair of cottages, now 1 house. c1835, restored and converted
late C20. Coursed squared gritstone rubble, slate roof. 2
storeys, 2 first-floor windows. Built as a mirror pair with
entrance to No.3, far left, now blocked. Entrance to No.5, far
right, has a plain roughly-dressed stone surround; paired
casement windows, plain sills and lintels. Central square
ridge stack, height reduced, gable coping right. Right return:
a narrow window on right, ground and first floors, with large
stone lintels.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
An example of the very small cottages built on Headingley Moor
following the auction of plots to defray the cost of
enclosure, 1831. Included for group value.
