Offices, with basement railings, piers and gate. Dated 1899,
altered C20. Yellow terracotta (faience) facade, slate roof,
wrought-iron railings and gate.
3 storeys with basement and attic, 3 bays, the narrower
central entrance bay has a slightly projecting porch and
deeply recessed doorway, octagonal shafts rising to a shaped
gable, date panel and small pediment. Ground floor: flanking
3-light plate-glass windows; canted wooden bay windows to 1st
floor; arcaded 2nd-floor windows with moulded arches and squat
Ionic columns. Flanking octagonal shafts, modillion eaves
cornice, parapet with scrolled recesses and moulded cornice.
Moulded square-section piers with pyramid caps, elaborate
railings with scrolled panels, pointed and bud finials to
bars, gate left with bars, dog bars and curved rails.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
The 1901 Directory indicates that the premises were used by
the National Fire Assurance Company of Ireland, The Law
Accident Assurance Company, 2 solicitors, 2 barristers and a
chartered accountant.
