Archway and wing walls removed from site of St Mary's Nunnery
(demolished). Perhaps C13, altered. Coursed red sandstone,
eroded. The re-erected stonework comprises a pointed archway
of 5 courses visible below capitals to former shafts. On the
outer side jambs and voussoirs are twice rebated; there are 3
rings of voussoirs, of which the second ring has eroded
mouldings; on the inner side there are no rebates. A
pointed-arched niche in each face of wing wall to each side of
archway, simply detailed.
After demolition, the archway and wing walls were twice moved
and re-erected, and may have been altered or rearranged.
