Broad lock, similar in form to adjacent graving lock (qv).
Early-mid C19. Brick and sandstone; 2 pairs of timber and
steel lock-gates; brick walls to lock chamber; sandstone
copings, pavement and corners to recesses for lower gates;
stone-coped retaining walls at lower entrance to lock. Raymond
Street bridge (not included) spans the lock.
