Pair of former undercrofts and town houses now a 2-bay
undercroft shop, 2 Row shops and 2 flats. One section of
medieval stone undercroft walling survives, a large chimney at
rear west corner of No.63 is of C16 or C17 origin, the facade
is early C18 restored early 1970s when all other parts were
rebuilt. The front is painted brick to street level, painted
sandstone and brick to Row and rendered above; chimney and
west gable to rear are of old brick.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys including street level and Row. Double
half-glazed doors to street left of centre with two 6-pane
1970s windows to left; glazed door right of centre has 2
camber-arched 4-pane windows to right. Row gallery has stone
piers to left and at centre and a rebuilt brick pier to right
with Tuscan half-column responds; 2 Tuscan columns in each bay
support the bressumer; the Row shopfronts are modern. Plain
stone string above rendered bressumer. A recessed central sash
to third storey has 2 near-flush sashes to each side, the
sash-boxes rendered; rusticated quoins; a moulded cornice
carries a rendered parapet; a key, the locksmith's sign, hangs
from a wrought-iron bracket on No.73 Row.
The rear west gable is brick-coped and has a paired brick
string on its east side; the chimney is tapered, with
terracotta weathering inserted.
