Formerly known as: Tyneholme LYNDHURST GARDENS.
Detached house. c1886. By Harry B Measures. For William
Willett and Son, builder-developers. Red bricks, roughcast on
part of first storey, rubbed brick dressings and string
courses. Windows of timber and terracotta (the latter now
painted), tiled roof. 2 full storeys with attic in roof. Front
an asymmetrical composition in Queen Anne style. Entrance left
of centre incorporating recessed porch, with mullioned windows
left and right and a bowed window corbelled out above, with
conical turret engaged in roof slope. To right, projecting bay
window with canted sides rising through 2 storeys and
terminating in a pierced parapet beneath a straight Queen Anne
gable with finial. Tall chimneys on flanks, some cut down.
Steeply hipped roof. Windows partly sashes, partly casements
(some changed).
INTERIOR not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: dwarf garden wall in front with plinth,
buttresses and polygonal piers topped by terracotta finials.
The Willett houses in Lyndhurst Gardens form a compact and
powerful group.
