BRIGHTON

TQ3105SW DITCHLING ROAD
577-1/27/197 (West side)
Walls to Brighton Business Centre

GV II

Walls to the former Diocesan Training College (qv). 1854 and
presumably later. Brick, stone and knapped flint. The walls
extend from the corner of Shaftesbury Road and Viaduct Road to
a point half-way along the frontage of the listed building in
Ditchling Road. Panels of knapped flint framed by yellow brick
with stone coping, the panels themselves flanked by low
buttresses. The principal entrance in the middle of the south
wall is marked by square piers altering to an octagon near the
top, with a stone cap; and there are more such piers at the 2
angles facing down Viaduct Road, and along Ditchling Road
where the wall is stepped up between the piers; the last 3
bays in Ditching Road are of a different design and made of
knapped flint in mortar framed and coped with red brick.
Included for group value.
