Tram shelter. 1900-1904. Wood. Gableted roof covered in wood
shingles. Single storey, rectangular in plan. Partly open.
Uprights are formed from narrow tree trunks in their natural
state which gives the shelter the appearance of rustic cabin
or primitive hut. This shelter was constructed pursuant to the
establishment of the corporation's own tramway system,
authorized by the Brighton Corporation Act of 1900. Service
began in November, 1901 and the system was completed by 1904.
There were ten routes. This particular shelter belonged to the
Queen's Park, or "Q", Route.
