Lamp post, south of the Tower or
"Pepper Pot"

Gas standard. Mid to late C19, south of the Tower, Tower Road
(qv); adapted to electric light in the late C19 or early C20.
Cast-iron and another metal. Straight-sided post cast as
fluted and tapering Tuscan column with single maintenance arm
and topped by a plain cylindrical impost. The timing mechanism
above, marked BLEECO, forms a base for swan-neck, tubular
bracket, which is braced by a metal fillet in the form of a
tendril. Shallow dish reflector.
