GV II*

Down House forms one wing of a larger building, the rest of
which is known as The Old Farmhouse (qv). This wing is said to
date from 1690 with a front of 1730. Dressed flints with red
brick dressings, roof of tiles. 2 storeys, 6-window range.
Round-arched entrance in 4th bay from west with doorcase of
engaged Doric columns supporting a broken pediment; panelled
reveals; fanlight with decorative glazing and panelled door of
original design, the upper panels now glazed. All windows
flat-arched with dressings of brick, now painted; brick storey
band and quoins; sashes of original design; modillion cornice;
end stacks. INTERIOR: not inspected.
