House, now offices and attached railings. 1836-1837 with later
additions and alterations including late-C20 attic dormers. By
William Startin. Pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond with
painted stucco facade, Welsh slate roof and cast-iron
railings.
2 storeys with basement and attic, 3 first-floor windows.
First floor has 6/6 sashes with plain reveals and tooled,
eared architraves, cornice. Ground floor: central 10-pane
French window with margin-lights, between tall, 6/9 sashes,
all with plain reveals and tooled, eared architraves. Entrance
to right side, 5 steps to part-glazed, panelled door with
pilaster strips and sidelights, within round-arched recess.
End stacks. Ground floor has continuous verandah with
anthemion-and-circle motif balustrade.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: lancet area railings with central gate.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Clarendon Place was laid out in 1825.
