Villa, now two dwellings. c1836-1850 with later additions and
alterations. Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco front
facade, brick and stucco stacks, Welsh slate roof and
cast-iron verandah.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. Alternately
rusticated quoins. Plinth. First floor: moulded band; 1/1
sashes with margin-lights in plain reveals and with sills,
with blind boxes and Venetian blinds.
Ground floor: 3 roll-edged steps to central entrance a
4-panel, part-glazed door with basket-arched overlight and in
plain reveals, in hollow-chamfered surround with moulded
architrave. Tripartite windows, 1/1 sashes with margin-lights
between narrow 1/1 sashes with upper- and lower-lights, in
double-chamfered reveals with cambered arch. Modillion
cornice. Hipped roof. Tall left end stack with cornice and
rear stack. Ground floor has continuous verandah with scroll
motif to uprights.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Kenilworth Road was laid out 1834-8.
Nos 20, 22, 26, 28, 30, 36, 38 and 46 (qqv) form an
architectural group of villas.
