Villa, now flats. c1836-1850 with later additions and
alterations. Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco front
facade, stucco stacks and Welsh slate roof.
2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. Alternately rusticated
quoins. Plinth. First floor: moulded band; 1/1 sashes with
margin-lights in plain reveals and sills, blind boxes and
Venetian blinds. Ground floor: 3 steps to central entrance a
4-panel, part-glazed door with basket-arched overlight and
plain reveals, in hollow-chamfered surround with moulded
architrave. Tripartite windows: 1/1 sashes with margin-lights
between narrow 1/1 sashes with upper- and lower-lights with
double-chamfered, cambered-arched surround, the outer
hollow-moulded, in tooled architrave. Modillion cornice.
Hipped roof. Tall end and roof stacks with modillion cornices.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Kenilworth Road was laid out 1834-8. Nos 20,
22, 26, 28, 30, 36, 38 and 46 (qqv) form an architectural
group of villas.
