Villa, now flats. c1836-1850 with later additions and
alterations. Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco front
facade, Welsh slate roof and cast-iron verandah.
2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. Alternately rusticated
quoins. Plinth. Canted bays to full height have 1/1 sashes
with margin-lights in plain reveals, moulded sill band. First
floor: central 1/1 sash with margin-lights in plain reveals
and with tooled architrave. Ground floor: 3 steps to central
entrance a 4-panel, part-glazed door with basket-arched
overlight, in plain reveals and cavetto-moulded surround with
tooled architrave. Hipped roof. End stacks. Continuous
verandah to ground floor has barley-twist uprights and cogged
frieze.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Kenilworth Road was laid out 1834-8.
Nos 20, 22, 26, 28, 30, 36, 38 and 46 form an architectural
group of villas.
