Two houses. c1824 with later alterations. Pinkish-brown brick
with painted stucco front facades and Welsh slate roof to
left, cement tiles to right. House to left has gable end to
street.
3 storeys, 4 first-floor windows, basement to right. First
floor: 6/6 sashes. Second floor: 3/3 sashes. Ground floor: 6/6
sashes (1 to left, 2 to right). Outer entrances (alike): steps
to part-glazed, panelled doors with fanlights (blind to right)
in recessed, round-arched surrounds. Basement has 8-pane
sashes. Tall end and ridge stacks with cornices.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Portland Street was laid out 1823-4.
