House now flats. c1824 with later alterations. Pinkish-brown
brick with painted stucco front facade and cement-tile roof
with cast-iron railings and balconies.
3 storeys with basement and attic to gable, 2 first-floor
windows. First floor: 6-pane French windows with divided
overlights. Second and ground floor have 6/6 sashes with
sills; all windows in plain reveals. Entrance to left: 5
roll-edged steps to part-glazed, 4-panel door. Basement has
glazed door and 6/6 sash. Attic to gable end has casement
window. Two tall right end stacks with cornices.
Porch has scroll design to uprights. Individual balconies to
first-floor windows have Carron Company
double-heart-and-anthemion motif.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: area railings and gate and railings to
sides of steps have alternate anthemion and fleur-de-lys
finials.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Portland Street was laid out c1824-1836.
