Terraced houses. c1840. Stucco, roofs of slate, Nos 9-12
turnerised.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys over basement, 3-window range. The houses
are grouped in pairs, the outer bays of Nos 9 and 10, and Nos
11 and 12 set back together. Nos 9-12 have flat-arched
entrances flanked by pilasters with console brackets
supporting first-floor balconies with scalloped balustrades;
No.8 has a flat-arched entrance in the return to Montpelier
Villas, part of a lean-to conservatory addition to basement
and ground floor, of late C19 or early C20 date; No.13 has a
flat-arched entrance in the return to Montpelier Street, with
pilasters and entablature. All windows flat-arched; French
windows to ground floor in Montpelier Terrace, giving onto a
bracketed balcony with cast-iron railings and a canopy over;
storey band; the first-floor windows to Nos 9, 11 and 12 have
margin lights and Nos 9 and 11 have blind boxes; bracketed
eaves cornice with paterae to frieze; hipped roofs; central
stacks. No.8 has a 2-storey canted bay on the return to
Montpelier Villas and a further 3-storey, 2-window range to
the north with a 2-storey canted bay. No.13 has a 2-storey
canted bay on the return to Montpelier Street and a 3-storey
wing to the north with margin lights to sashes on first and
second floors.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Cast-iron railings to steps and front gardens with spearhead
finials.
