Farmhouse. Late C16 and C17 with late C18 extensions and
alterations. Whitewashed timber-frame on sandstone plinth and
brick gable ends; tile roofs with brick central ridge stack
and end stacks, stone stack to rear. T-plan, wing to rear.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; 2-window range. Ground floor
has 3 windows with 3-light, 2-light and single-light
casements; first floor has windows with cross-casement and
2-light casement. Extension to right of single-storey and
attic has entrance with hood, 2-light casement and 2-light
dormer above. Wing to rear has massive stack with C20 brick
flue; entrance and casement windows, including 2-light leaded
casement and a probably C17 3-light wood ovolo-mullioned
window. Brick left return has modillioned brick cornice to
gable; rear catslide outshut visible.
INTERIOR: recorded as: sitting room has good stone fireplace
with 4-centred arch, moulded spine beam and close-studded
framing; bedroom above has good stone fireplace with 2 cornice
mouldings above opening. Jowled wall studs. Kitchen has
flagged floor, open fireplace, approx 3m wide, with stone
jambs and stone alcove to right; inserted C19 brick fireplace.
Dairy has slate thrawl. Old purlins visible in room above
kitchen; small rubble-walled cellar.
