GV II

Group of 3 chest tombs to members of the Middleton family.
To Thomas Middleton d.1831 and Ann his wife d.1809; to William
Middleton d.1829; and to Samuel Middleton d.1873, Ann his wife
d.1868 and Edward their son d.1834. Sandstone ashlar.
To Thomas Middleton and to William Middleton (alike): 2m long
x 1m wide x 1m high; ovolo-chamfered plinths with inscribed
panels to sides and incised borders, that to Thomas surmounted
by hipped slab.
To Samuel Middleton: Greek-Revival style; stepped base,
approx. 1.5m high x 2m long x 1m wide, hollow chamfered
plinth, splayed chest with fluted angles, surmounted by hipped
slab with ovolo-moulded eaves.
All the listed items in the Churchyard form a group with
Church of St Michael and All Angels (qv).
