Farmhouse, now house, with attached range of former farm
buildings to right (north) comprising barn, bull pen and cow
shed. C17 with later additions and alterations including left
(south) range of c1920 and C17 and C18 farm buildings.
MATERIALS: farmhouse: mainly timber-framed with painted
plaster and brick infill and painted brick extension. Farm
buildings: timber-framing with reddish-brown brick nogging and
weatherboarding; steeply pitched plain-tile roofs with
corrugated iron to barn.
EXTERIOR AND PLAN: farmhouse: originally L-shaped on plan, (3
units with rear range) now extended to T-plan; with original
left external stack (now ridge stack) and external stack to
rear wing. Small square panels of timber-framing throughout
original part with diagonal braces to rear. one-and-a-half
storeys, 3 upper stage windows to original part, with further
C20 bay to left. Originally central entrance has C20 plank
door in moulded wood frame and with tiled hood. 2-, 3- and
4-light C20 casements with glazing bars throughout. C20 bay
windows to left gable and to rear. Right and rear gable ends
have exposed original purlins.
Farm Buildings: U-shaped range. From left, small 3-bay
threshing barn has timber-framing and weatherboarding; split
plank threshing doors.
Bull pen with hayloft over: 2 bays. Timber-framed upper stage
and reddish-brown brick. Off-centre left split plank doors,
C20 casement to right; upper stage has plank pitching door to
left; 2 skylights.
Cow sheds: L-shaped on plan in 2 stages of build; mainly
brick, some timber-framing. Single storey. 2 split stable
doors; pigeon nesting openings to south gable end.
INTERIOR: farmhouse: ground floor has extensive exposed
timber-framing. Beams with roll-moulded chamfering and
chamfered rafters with chamfered stops.
Farm Buildings: cross-frames to threshing floors remain.
Bull pen: mangers remain to rear wall.
Cow sheds: mainly collar-tie-beam trusses with angle struts.
