GV II

Public house. Early C17 and C19 with later alterations. Left
part: brick laid to Flemish bond with pebbledash ground floor
and some timber-frame, gabled Welsh slate roof with 3 brick
rear stacks. L-plan. Right Part: timeber-frame with painted
roughcast infill, gabled old tile roof with brick stack to
rear of ridge and end stack. 2-unit plan.
EXTERIOR: Left part: 2 storeys, 3-window range. Plain fascia.
Throughway to left has renewed C20 brick surround. Entrance to
right of centre has moulded surround , overlight with
decorative glazing bars and C20 half-glazed door. Entrance is
flanked by canted bay windows with 4/4:8/8:4/4 sashes; windows
to first floor have sills, and rusticated wedge lintels with
key blocks over 8/8 sashes. Sign bracket.
C19 rear wing with C20 brick extensions.
Fragmentary remains of C17 square framing with brick infill to
right inner return of throughway.
Right part: 2 storeys, 2-window range. Entrance to right of
centre has casements. First floor has 2 windows with 2-light,
partly C20, small-paned casements. Square framing with bracing
to attic.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
The part to right formerly listed 05/04/67.
