Barn and stable approx. 25m. east of
Old Grove Farmhouse)

GV II

Barn and stable, now 2 houses. Earlier C18, altered 1781 (date
on brick), with conversion to houses c1990. Timber-framed with
C18 and C19 red brick nogging and red brick. Gabled plain-tile
roofs. L-plan.
EXTERIOR: barn: 3 bays of large-panel framing with narrow
upper intermediate rails and diagonal down-braces to garden
facade, brick to front facade. Brick plinth. Central opposing
threshing doorways, now glazed, and doorway in C19 brick wall
to left. Central cross frames have down-braces and brick
infill to first rail level. Jowled studs.
Former stable: projects forward and has, on left side, a
central door flanked by shuttered windows. Brick cambered
lintels. Loft door over. Brick dentilled eaves.
INTERIOR: barn: queen-strut trusses to centre, queen-post to
gable ends. Some probably early C19 renewal of purlins.
Clasped purlins and ridge piece. Stone-flagged threshing
floor. Former stable: has chamfered spine beams.
Forms a group with Old Grove Farmhouse (qv).
