Barn and stables reputed to incorporate core of late C16
timber-framed house, now museum. Stone rubble with later
repairs in red brick to north bay, brick on rubble plinth in
middle bay (west side only), south bay of partly
weatherboarded square framing with brick infill on rubble
plinth. Both gable-ends weatherboarded. Plain-tile roof.
3-cell plan.
EXTERIOR: south-west side with boarded door to each cell,
ventilation holes and loft opening in middle bay.
INTERIOR: single-purlin roof with straight windbraces. End
trusses of twin collar and vertical strut type, internal
trusses of twin raking strut type and collar and vertical
strut type. North cell, preserved as a stable, has chamfered
bridging beams with ogee chamfer stops.
