GV II

House, formerly both toll house and smithy. Early C17 with C20
extensions. Timber frame with painted rendered infill panels
on restored brick plinth, painted rendered extensions.
Plain-tiled roofs. Large projecting stack to rear with brick
shaft. 2 framed-bay range of single-storey and attic, with end
and rear extensions.
EXTERIOR: street front with square framing 3 panels high with
2 C20 casements and 2 C20 boarded doors. Single timber-framed
gabled dormer with 2 C20 casements. Single-storey C20
extension to right.
Left return gable: square framing 2 panels high with straight
tension brace and 3 C20 casements. Gable-end truss with
straight tie beam, collar with twin raking struts over, and 4
raking struts framing 3 C20 casements. Single trenched purlin
roof evident. Rear covered by hipped single-storey and gabled
2-storey C20 extensions.
