GV II
Small farmhouse or cottage. Probably late C17 or early C18;
extended and altered. Roughly coursed sandstone rubble with
quoins, the front white-washed; slate roof. Single-depth plan
on east-west axis, the east unit probably added; plus a
lean-to extension at the west end.
2 storeys and 3 windows. In the centre is a low porch with a
shallow mono-pitched roof and side benches, protecting a
square-headed inner doorway, and above the right-hand side of
this porch is a quoined vertical joint defining the western
portion. Each floor has two C20 cross-window casements in
rectangular openings, and the upper floor also has a small
2-light casement under the eaves to the left. Corbelled
chimney to left; gable chimney to right. Almost full-height
lean-to to left has wide doorway with rectangular lintel and
stone slate drip-band.
INTERIOR: altered. HISTORICAL NOTE: probably formerly a 1-unit
house (c.f. West Stonehouse and Blands Farmhouse, both in Dent
CP, qv). Forms group with Badger Dub (qv).
