Description

GARSDALE

SD78NW HAWES ROAD
162-1/11/240 (South side)
14/06/84 Low House Bridge

GV II

Bridge over Clough River. Probably C18, and perhaps re-built
in late C19 after flood; altered. Sandstone rubble, roughly
coursed in the abutments, snecked in the spandrels. Segmental
arch with rubble voussoirs, thin stone slate band now
surmounted by iron railings which have replaced rubble
parapets, only the ends of which now remain. Included as part
of a group with Low House Farmhouse (qv), barn on east side of
entrance to Low House Farm (qv), garden shelter approx. 50m
south-west of Low House Farmhouse (qv): retained on list
despite loss of parapets because structure of arch is intact.
