To the memory of Sir Thomas Bridges, knight of the noble order of the Bath, son of Sir Thomas Bridges, of Keynsham, knt. and of Anna, one of the daughters and heirs of Sir Edward Rodney, of Rodney-Stoke in this county, knt. who by his father was descended from the right honourable and most ancient familie of the Lords Shandos, barons of Sudley castle in the county of Gloucester and by his mother from the illustrious dukes of Norfolke and Somersett. He received his honour on the 19th of April in the yeare of our Lord 1661, and on the 23d of the same moneth attended at the coronation of his Majesty King Charles the Second. And on Saturday the first of June in the fame year 1661, hee exchanged his transitory for an eternal weight of glory, and in hopes of a glorious reunion with his immortal soul. Neare unto this place resteth his earthly and mortal part.
