Terrace of 6 cottages. c1903-14. By Cluttons. Yellow brick
with red brick details, high pitched, red tiled roof above red
brick stepped cornice; stuccoed plinth.
2 storeys, 2 bays each in cottage style, with plaster gables
the full width of the house to Nos 13 & 23. Mostly paired
doorways under tiled canopy on wood braces, replaced doors
with oblong fanlights. Cambered, gauged red brick arches to
sash windows with glazing bars and bracketed sills, paired
except on 1st floor beneath gables. Red brick sill bands.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: area railings with spearhead standards.
HISTORICAL NOTE: formed part of the Brandon Estate, an example
of "homely" working-class housing, erected by the
Ecclesiastical Commissioners under the guidance of Octavia
Aycliffe House and Nos 1, 1A & 3-23 (odd) (qqv) form a group.
