GV II

Group of warehouses built around a courtyard. Late C18 and
early C19. Plymouth limestone rubble walls with segmental
brick arches over most of the openings; half-hipped and
gable-ended mostly slate roofs. Warehouses on 4 sides of a
courtyard approached by a carriageway ope (passage) through
the front warehouse.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys; courtyard elevation of front warehouse is
a 2-window range plus former loading doorways on the right.
Courtyard front of warehouse on the left of the courtyard has
similar front but with loading doorways towards the left.
Front of rear warehouse is partly clad in weatherboard. Front
of warehouse on right of courtyard has 3 large round-arched
openings to ground floor; blind wall above.
INTERIOR: of front warehouse has original beam and joist floor
structures and likely to retain original roof structure not
inspected. Other warehouse not inspected but likely to retain
their original structural features.
New Street contains a high proportion of fine C17 and C18
houses and some fine warehouses.
