Villa, now club. c1823. Stucco over brick with concealed roof.
Central hallway, double depth plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 5 first-floor windows arranged 1:3:1, the
central 3 to full-height bow, with 2-storey, 2-window range to
left. Main range: first floor has 6/6 sashes and central
6-pane French window with divided overlight. Ground floor has
outer 2/2 sashes, bow has blind openings and central portico
with 4 Doric pilasters, architrave, frieze and cornice with
blocking course. Central double 4-panel doors with overlight
and side windows. Low parapet and copings. Range at left has
2/2 sashes and French windows; first-floor band, crowning
cornice and blocking course. Front stack to left range. Left
return has full-height bow with tripartite window to each
floor with 6/6 between 2/2 sashes, otherwise blind openings,
all in plain reveals and with sills.
INTERIOR: retains many original features including inner
entrance, and 8-panel door (upper panels raised and fielded,
lower flush) curved on plan, with solid 'fanlight' with circle
and fan motif; good stone staircase to front bow with moulded
soffit, decorative iron balustrade with lozenge and oval motif
and wreathed handrail and decorated landing; diamond flagged
floor; 6-panel doors and reeded doorcases with fleurons.
Plasterwork remains with moulded cornices and ceilings
friezes. One of a good group of 1820s villas in Montpellier
Parade.
