2 semi-detached villas, now house and nursery school, with
attached railings. c1820-50 with later alterations. Stucco
over brick with hipped slate roof.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement, 5 first-floor windows
(including central blind window); service range to rear.
Stucco detailing includes end pilasters with sunk panels.
Ground-floor windows in taller and wider round-arched slight
recesses with incised Greek key motif to surround. Tooled
first-floor band. 6/6 sashes where original, those to ground
floor are taller; basement has 3/6 basement and C20 glazed
doors. Right return: 3 window range. Central breakforward has
entrance, 6-panel part-glazed door with overlight with
margin-lights. Wide eaves. Left return (to Carlton Street): 4
first-floor windows: left end blind, otherwise 6/6 sashes.
3-right-window range has end pilasters and central
breakforward with entrance a 6-panel door (upper panels raised
and fielded, lower panels flush) with overlight, tooled
surround.
INTERIOR: noted as having retained original joinery and
plasterwork.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: first floor has 4 window boxes with
scrolled lozenge motif, further similar window box to return.
Railings to steps with similar motif.
HISTORICAL NOTE: the poet Adam Lindsey Gordon (1833-70) lived
at No.25.
