House now offices. c1834-50. Stucco over brick with concealed roof, brick right end, ridge and rear stacks and iron railings. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement, 4 first-floor windows. Roll-moulded plinth. Stucco detailing includes full-height Doric pilasters to ends and between windows, those 2 to either side of doorway are closer together to articulate entrance; first-floor band; crowning entablature. First floor has 6/6 sashes, ground floor has 8/8 sashes; basement has 3/6 sashes; all in plain reveals and with sills. Off-centre left entrance, flight of roll-edged steps to 4-panel door with side-lights and fanlight with inverted-batwing-and-circle motif. Left return has 3 first-floor windows and single-storey, single-bay outshut. End pilasters and between second and third windows; entablature and blocking course with copings. First-floor band. 6/6 sashes, that to first floor, 3rd bay is blind. Off-centre left entrance: 6-panel part-glazed double doors with segmental fanlight with inverted teardrop and circle motif. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: arrowhead area railings and anthemions to stanchions. Verey calls these, 'modest, well-proportioned houses'. Occupies a corner site and forms a group with and abuts Nos 6, 7 and 8. (The Buildings of England: Verey D: Gloucestershire: The Vale and The Forest of Dean: London: 1970-: 148).
