House and attached railings. c1832 with later additions and alterations including c1960s infill at right. Ashlar over brick with concealed roof, end stucco stacks with cornices and iron railings and balcony. Central hallway, double depth plan. EXTERIOR: 4 storeys, on basement to left, 3 first-floor windows. Ashlar detailing includes ground-floor rustication drawn into voussoirs over window; first- and second-floor bands; frieze and cornice over second floor; crowning frieze and cornice with blocking course; tooled architraves to first-, second- and third-floor windows. 6/6 sashes where original, except to centre, first-floor, a 6-pane French window with divided overlight, all with margin-lights; 3/3 sashes to third floor. Ground floor has C20 canted bay window at left and rectangular bay to right, both with casement windows. Central entrance, flight of roll-edged steps to double, 4-panel, part-glazed doors with sidelights and fanlight with decorative glazing bars, within distyle Doric porch with entablature which continues across right bay. Right return (to Lypiatt Road) has similar ashlar detailing with 6/6 sashes, those to third floor with 3/3 sashes and to ground floor a 10-pane French window with margin-lights. INTERIOR: central hallway has embellished cornice and dogleg staircase with iron stick balusters and wreathed handrail. Embellished frieze to right, ground-floor room, otherwise not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: first floor has individual balcony to left with Carron Company double-heart-and-anthemion motif and long balcony to right with similar balustrade with single heart and anthemion motif. Area railings to left have spearhead bars and dogbars with anthemion finials to stanchions. To sides of porch are double rod and anthemion railings. HISTORICAL NOTE: shown on Merrett's 1834 Map.
