2 terraced houses, now shops. Numbered right to left, described
left to right. Mid C18 with later additions and alterations
including late C19 shop front at right and late C20 shop front at
left. Reddish-brown brick in Flemish bond (painted to first
floor), stuccoed sills, plain tile roof with party-wall stack. 4
storeys, 4 first-floor windows. First floor has two 2/2 sashes
and two 1/1 horned sashes; second floor has 6/6 sashes; third
floor has 3/3 sashes; all flush and with flat arches of gauged
rick, sills. Ground floor: at left a plate-glass shop front with
central glazed door and fluted end pilasters, continuous fascia;
at right a glazed brick plinth, basket- and round-arched windows
with foliate decoration to the spandrels, canted in to part-glaze
door with lower raised-and-fielded-panels, overlight. Tall coped
parapet.
INTERIORS: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: St Swithin's Street was originally known as
Goose Lane.
Nos 2, 3, 6 and 7 St Swithin's Street form a group with Church of
St Swithun, Church Street (qqv).
