Inn, now public house. Late C16, extended C17 and C19, altered
C20.
MATERIALS: part timber frame with painted infill, part painted
brick. Old tile gabled roof.
PLAN: formerly L-plan of 2 x 3 framed bays, with C17 stair
turret at rear, now with extension on east forming U-plan with
2 gables facing road. Part extension at rear.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. 3 chimneys with clay pots, 2 having
corniced heads. C19 casement windows.
Irregular north front road. Left gable, plain, painted brick
with door and pent hood. Right gable with timber frame
exposed, underbuilt in brick and with C19 projecting chimney
to right of centre. Single 2-light window with panelled
shutters at left on ground floor. To left of this, in angle of
return, pent extension with half glazed entrance door and pent
hood, facing rood. Centre section has 3-light window with
panelled shutters on ground floor, 3-light window above on
first floor and small fixed light window to right of this.
INTERIOR: inglenook chimney. Queen post roof with clasped
purlins.
