GV II

House, one of unequal pair (No.1, Somerset House, qv). Late C18 or early C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, slate roof.
PLAN: Deep block, similarly detailed, slightly higher than adjacent Somerset House.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys and lower ground floor, revealed as full four storeys to rear because of slope in site. Two windows, all twelve-pane sash, with balconette to top floor, right, and basement grille to right. Ground floor left has panelled part glazed door under plain fanlight in arched opening to deep reveals. To left, two storey extension has blind light above blind arched panel. Cornice with blocking course and parapet, coped gables and ashlar stack to right. Rear wall has two twelve-pane sashes to each level, but single blind panel to middle floor, and cornice with blocking course and parapet.
INTERIOR: Not inspected. House built independently from Somerset House, straight joint between two. No.2 slightly higher overall. Across front high plain ashlar wall with central elliptical opening to C20 iron gate, continued as wall to inserted garage. To right party boundary to Somerset House.
