Public house with ground floor shop. Mid to late C18.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, slate roof.
PLAN: Shallow property with short return to Quiet Street, and steep mansard roof.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement, twelve-pane sashes in plain reveals, long frontage has two two-light casement dormers, with three-sashes at second and first floors, that to left at second floor blind. Quadrant corner also has sash at each level, in sunk panel and with curved cornice to first floor, short return has blind light above sash at first floor. Ground floor has continuous range of small-pane display windows with pilasters and fascia with cornice, continued also to left under No.11 Quiet Street (qv). Basement hatch to left. At right hand end pair of panelled doors under fanlight in deep arched reveals, flanked by nine-pane lights, at this point property underlies single bay of No.5 Queen Street (qv). Plinth dies out to left, modillion cornice with blocking course, large stack centre, slight break in roof-line.
INTERIORS: Ground floor opened out. Original cornices survive in parts; original staircase in situ.
