Formerly known as: White Shutters RICHMOND PLACE.
Detached house. c1830.
MATERIALS: Ashlar with Welsh slate roof; wooden glazed verandah.
PLAN: Square on plan with central stack and later ashlar wing added at left hand rear corner.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys on a tall plinth, two windows over two windows.
Ground floor has four/four sashes with louvred shutters under verandah with glazed pent roof on slim timber colonnade with ogee arched heads. Verandah fronted by plain timber balustrade.
First floor has smaller four/four sashes. Hipped roof with deep eaves, central ashlar stack with weathering and six patent pots. Rear wing has single window with four/four sashes and single pitch roof.
Rear elevation not seen.
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Ashlar front wall with ball finial-topped piers; pair of wrought iron gates with three tiers of spearhead finials.
HISTORY: A transitional late Georgian villa, showing the arrival of Italianate features (i.e. the eaves) and with an unusually elaborate verandah.
