Detached lodge. Early C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, slate roof.
PLAN: Octagonal plan with elongated sides, with small single storey attached wings.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys, two-light casement windows, with protective stanchions at ground floor, towards The Avenue front has square light above circular one, both blind, and in sunk plain surrounds. To each side splay casement, at each level, also with sunk surround. Corresponding rear faces have casement to centre, and blind lights each side, but without sunk surrounds. To right hipped porch, with blind light front and rear, and panelled door under square keystone to side, similar but later wing to left with three casements. Small plinth, mid platband, and deep eaves to roof with lead hips and central ashlar stack with capping.
INTERIOR: Not inspected. An elegant Neo-classical lodge with masonry of high quality. The Avenue, now closed off to traffic at either end, formerly was a principal route into the city, joining Bathwick Hill at its top.
