House, now two dwellings. c1820, altered c1990.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, slate roof with moulded stacks to gable ends.
PLAN: Double depth plan with projecting wing to left.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys with basements, symmetrical three-window front to right hand block, one window to left wing. Coped parapet, coved cornice, frieze and ground floor platband. Symmetrical block to right has blind central first floor window flanked by six/six-pane sash windows, with margin panes, that to right with fine cast iron balconette. Steps up to entrance; former door now replaced with a pair of new openings with six-panel doors flanked by similar windows with sliding louvred blinds. Wing to right, originally over carriage entrance to rear courtyard with granite wheel protector to base of former arch, later with shop to ground floor, has full width timber lintel over ground floor, now with six/six-pane sash window to each floor.
INTERIORS: Not inspected.
HISTORY: This house is said to have been residence of proprietor of brewery opposite, No.9 (qv).
