Detached villa. Early to mid C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, slate roof.
PLAN: Compact block with hipped roof behind parapets.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys and basement, three+one windows, end bay, right, may have been added later, and slightly set back from principal front. All windows are plain sashes, with louvred shutters. Centred to original range square ashlar porch with reeded pilasters and frieze, moulded cornice and blocking. Basement windows, just visible at ground level, within small areas contained by dwarf ashlar walls with cast iron crestings. Parapet returns to frontage to left, has small horizontal elliptical bull's-eye lighting near front, and full height canted bay with sashes to rear, also French doors on three steps. Right return includes first floor sash. Two stacks to each gable end, and two to rear.
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
HISTORY: One of a series of villas on the north side of Church Road with fine panoramic views to the south. This house was among the earliest houses of status to be built in this area, hitherto the province of quarry-related workers.
